Ever wondered what exactly happens during the metal fabrication process? Many of our customers are amazed by the results that we are able to produce and have plenty of questions about how we got there. As a leading provider of metal fabrication services, we are here to tell you everything you want to know! From the initial design stages all the way through to finishing and installation, here are the seven steps we take to get the job done.

Design and planning

Your metal fabrication project begins in the hands of our design team. Using a wide range of tools, both digital and physical, we will come up with innovative solutions that bring your vision to life. We’ll also plan every step of the process so that it goes as smoothly as possible.

Material selection

One of the most important parts of the metal fabrication process is material selection. Here at Jack Arnold UK, we know how different metals behave and react, and this means that we will choose the most suitable and cost-effective option for your project.

Cutting

With this, the real work begins. Using laser cutting and hand cutting, depending on which is best suited to the brief, we are able to work quickly without cutting corners. Precision at this stage makes for the best finished result, and this is an area that we take great pride in.

Forming

Next comes forming. This can come in many forms, whether it’s folding, bending, stamping or hole punching. We work on projects of all scales and complexities, from creating ornate balcony railings to metal bike stores. So the forming stage looks very different for each job.

Assembling

Once everything has been cut and formed to the desired shape, it’s time to move on to the latter stages of the project. Assembling is simply us putting all of the different components of a design together before they are attached to each other. This is usually done by welding or with screws.

Finishing

The finish of a metal fabrication project makes so much difference when it comes to its appearance and longevity. From powder coating to finishes such as brushing or plating, there are so many types that we offer. This is the final stage of the actual process itself, but our work doesn’t end there.

Installation and aftercare

This part of the process is more of a step that comes afterwards, but for us, it is very important and something we never rush through. We carry out installation of our metal fabrication work wherever it is needed, and we also provide customers with advice on how to maintain and look after them.
